Pre-Operative Instructions for Sedation Procedures

  • Arrive for your surgery with an on empty stomach. You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for 8 hours prior to your appointment
  • Please come to the office with a friend or family member who is an adult (18 years or older).
  • Your friend will remain in the office during your procedure, drive you home and stay with you for 3 hours. You will not be able to leave the office alone or drive yourself home
  • We recommend you do not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience
  • If you take medication regularly, you should take them with small sips of water at the regular time. Also, any additional medications, which might be prescribed to you by our office, should be taken with small sips of water as directed
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing with short sleeves or sleeves that can easily be rolled up above both elbows
  • Do not wear jewelry, including any nose, mouth, tongue or other facial piercings or makeup, including nail polish or eye cosmetics, please no lotion. Please tie long hair back
  • If you wear contact lenses, please remove them prior to your appointment
  • No smoking the morning of surgery
  • If you wear dentures, please do not use denture adhesive
  • If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, upset stomach, please notify the office, as an appointment change may be necessary
